2 Things I've Learned About Cooking Great Eggs

I've made a lot of bad eggs in my life, but I believe that after much time and practice I've discovered how to cook great eggs every time.

Here are the 2 most obvious "secrets" to making good eggs:

1) Cook with Butter

I used to think that butter was bad because fat was bad. I've since learned that is completely untrue. Fat is your friend. Carbs and sugar are the problems, but I digress.

2) Eggs Should Not Be "Well Done"

Eggs should not be dry. They don't have to be runny, either. Take them off the heat when they're still a little wet and they'll be perfect.

I also love mild cheddar cheese in my eggs. Not too much and not too sharp.

Cardinal Class Painting

Here's the image we're going to use in an upcoming marker workshop. It's always a fun challenge to limit the colors you use - this one uses 5 markers and white paint.

1 Simple Piece of Art Advice for Inkers

If you're using ink, whether pen or brush, here's a super simple piece of advice: When you make a line, always taper the stroke.

  1. 1.

When You Need the Marker to Stay

How do you get those blasted markers to stop rolling around on your drawing desk so you can take a photo?

LASERS AT LAST

The Navy is about to equip some of their ships with lasers, which will be used to destroy drones, missiles and small craft.

Each laser blast would cost about the same as a gallon of diesel fuel, instead of the many thousands of dollars to fire a missile.

How is Painting Like Golf?

I didn't play a lot of golf growing up, but my dad did, and he consistently had 1 piece of advice for me.

Let the club do the work.

Well, artists, I would say the same.

Let the paintbrush do the work.

The most wonderful effects in art happen by accident - when you simply allow the brush and paint freedom to leave their own marks on the page.

To try and control every brush stroke is not nearly as interesting as allowing some room for the media to move and mix freely.

Let the paint do the work.

Let the brush do the work.

Don't be a control freak.

Interesting Food Article by Amy Berger

I think information about food is fascinating, because we've been fed terrible information about it our entire lives.

The food pyramid - awful.
Drink your orange juice - no.
Soda machines in schools - a travesty.

I came across an interesting article by Amy Berger, where she rants about another commonly believed food myth, that weight control is all about the number of calories you eat.

EZ Pro Logo

I just finished up this logo for a friend of mine who's starting his own accounting business - just in time for tax season!

To give him extra flexibility, I made a horizontally oriented version of the same logo:
